1-h Postload PlasmaGlucose Levels and Left Ventricular Mass in Hypertensive Patients
نویسندگان
چکیده
OBJECTIVE—Left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH), an independent risk factor for cardiovascular (CV) morbidity and mortality, recognizes a multifactorial pathogenesis. A plasma glucose value $155 mg/dL for the 1-h postload plasma glucose during an oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) identifies subjects with normal glucose tolerance (NGT) at high risk for type 2 diabetes. We addressed the question if glucose tolerance status, particularly 1-h postload plasma glucose levels, affects left ventricular mass (LVM) and cardiac geometry in essential hypertension.

متن کاملOne-Hour Postload Plasma Glucose Levels and Diastolic Function in Hypertensive Patients
OBJECTIVE To address whether glucose tolerance status, and in particular 1-h postload plasma glucose levels, may affect diastolic function in 161 never-treated hypertensive white subjects. Impaired left ventricular relaxation, an early sign of diastolic dysfunction, represents the first manifestation of myocardial involvement in diabetic cardiomyopathy. A plasma glucose value ≥155 mg/dL for the...
متن کاملLeft ventricular mass and geometry in essential hypertension.
BACKGROUND It is unclear whether insulin and insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) are independent determinants of left ventricular (LV) mass in essential hypertension. METHODS AND RESULTS We studied 101 never-treated nondiabetic subjects with essential hypertension. All had 24-hour noninvasive ambulatory blood pressure (ABP) monitoring and a 75-g oral glucose tolerance test. We determined fas...

Background: With the development of technology, human beings are increasingly under the exposure of Radio Frequency Radiation (RFR) (due to wireless technologies, mobile phones, base stations etc). The aim was to investigate the possible effects of Radio Frequency Radiation (RFR) on blood, aorta and heart tissue in hypertensive and non-hypertensive rats with various parameters. Materials and Me...
